After I dropped Nic off at work this morning (he can’t drive until his vertigo gets under control) I grabbed the power cord from the sewing repair shop and came back home to check her out! So far, so good! It will take some getting used to the a few things I’ve been spoiled with–no needle threader, no automatic setting to keep the needle in the down position, no plugging in a number to rock out an easy stitch length–but I am otherwise loving her!
We moved some furniture around and got her all set up last night. I also cleaned out her stool and made myself a little ‘sewing box’ to stick under an end table for easy access to my larger tools. I think my sewing spot will be able to fairly happily coexist with the living room now! 🙂

katielea - I am so excited to read about Edna Elizabeth! I received a 15-91 as a birthday present last year. (Also had lots of wooden spools, the owner’s manual, & other accessories.) Didn’t know much about them but thought it was a nice looking machine & the accompanying desk was great! I still haven’t used it yet…I know they were built to last several lifetimes but I’m still scared I’ll break it! Maybe reading about your machine will give me the courage to work with mine. (Her name is MaryAnne…I am in the habit of naming objects…haha!)

My mom has a vintage singer from my grandmother but it’s huge and not at all dainty like yours. Still, I do hope one day to have it in my house.
Sam - I came upon your blog after googling 15-91 singer, I was lucky enough to welcome a new lady to my home yesterday. She looks exactly the same as yours, and she came with her own stool too. She needs a little work, but so far so good, my dh managed to fix the power supply by replacing the cord and I plugged her in and she works, I am so excited. Sam
